I’m Amanda, a wedding photographer and artist based in Oakland, California. I specialize in documentary and editorial style wedding photography, using analog methods to make expressive and documentary style images.

I work best with fellow artists, comedy-lovers, creatives, writers, musicians, craftspeople, analog nerds, and bonafide weirdos who are planning a wedding that embraces what is personally meaningful and ignores industry trends that don’t feel right. I love weddings because life is hard so we should party when we can and tell our people how much we love them. I’ll probably make friends with your mom and have been known to keep in touch with random aunties for years after an event.

I am equally as interested in making artful photographs of the elements that give your day its character (the venue, the florals, the signage, the sky, the landscape) as I am in documenting how it all unfolds. My approach is to move throughout the day with intuition, curiosity, comedy, and care, stepping back to pay keen attention to whatever is happening so the images feel soulful, expressive, and alive.

My work is mostly unposed, sometimes impressionistic, but always rooted in real connection and driven by intuition, capturing you, your people, and meaningful places in a way that feels grounded and true.

Amanda is an incredible artist, and exactly the type of person you want to photograph for your wedding if you want it to be easy and authentic. Upfront in working with her, she told us “your wedding is not a photoshoot,” and we knew she was the one for us. She made us laugh and captured all our special moments and people beautifully, and we ended up with a collection of stunning photos that you can truly feel and that will help us remember our wedding day forever. We’d recommend her to anyone looking for beauty, simplicity, and authenticity in their wedding photography experience!

We absolutely loved working with Amanda! From the start, she was so easy to communicate with — relaxed, responsive, and genuinely fun to be around. On the day of the wedding, she managed to capture the sweetest and silliest moments without ever making it feel like we were in the middle of a photo shoot. We loved that she shot a mix of film and digital and the photos are absolutely beautiful. Beyond her incredible talent, she’s just an awesome person, and we honestly loved getting to hang out with her throughout the day. We couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Amanda is an absolute gem to work with! Her work is full of heart and warmth and captures the perfectly imperfect bits of weddings—the raucous laughter, the blurriness of a cake cutting after lots of champagne, and the wilting-yet-somehow-more-beautiful bouquets at the end of the night. We had an intimate wedding —just 40 guests—and she fit right in with our close friends and family. We loved her candid, documentary style, and that she could get the classic family shots, but also make beautiful, artful pictures on film. She was the fun, laidback complement to our type-A personalities during the planning process, and we’re still so in love with how all the photos turned out. If you want photos that capture the heart and real FEELING of your wedding, Amanda is your gal!!

Amanda was such a joy to work with for our engagement shoot and wedding. I gave her my vague vision and she executed it flawlessly. She has such an amazing artistic instinct, while at the same time being so fun and easy to talk to which makes working with her a breeze. I’m usually nervous in front of a camera and had never really done a formal photo shoot before, but Amanda really put us at ease and gave directions that allowed for some really amazing shots.
